Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-term coach his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently improved in the past month - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents his first trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt after spring of that year.

Victory also means he has won twenty-one championships at 21 various events.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament previously this season.

His defensive strategy and recurring outbursts on court had prompted commentators to question if his ability to perform at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his first professional title, seized the initiative to force a decider.

He defended 4 early break points in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner earned the title with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
