Approximately 25,000 residences in southeastern Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on Monday morning after powerful weather events passed over the region, bringing powerful gusts hitting 109km/h.

Large Ice Stones and Widespread Destruction

Residents reported giant hailstones measuring up to 7 centimeters in particular locations. Meteorological experts confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Utility workers were attempting to repair electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units working to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.

Southern State's Weather Woes

Simultaneously, nearly 1,000 energy customers in the southern state also experienced power outages after the capital city recorded its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.

Emergency response teams responded to over five hundred calls for help across the state, mostly for structural issues but also for downed trees and inundation.

• Hoppers Crossing suburb - numerous emergency calls
• Wyndham region - nearly 180 help reports

At one point on Sunday, more than twenty-eight thousand energy customers in Victoria were without power.

Climate Outlook

Moist weather were expected to linger along large portions of Queensland's east this coming days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coast.

Tuesday was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing severe weather risk expected across multiple regions of both regions.

Safety Concern

Public health experts cautioned that there was an greater possibility of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.

This caution comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to major medical consequences in the state.
